CAT 2017 Registration
- Those of you who are interested in CAT 2016 need to apply online.
- Before you apply for CAT 2016 you need to check out the eligibility criteria which is mentioned below.
- In order to make the application fee payment you need to pay via net banking, debit card, credit card.
- General category candidates / NC-OBC need to pay Rs 1700 whereas those of you who belong to reserved community (ST/SC) would be charged Rs 850. In addition to this payment, the processing fees would also be applicable individually.
CAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria
The complete eligibility criteria for CAT 2016 is mentioned below:
- You need to have cleared bachelors degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD). If you have gained marks in the form of CGPA then it would be converted into percentage marks on the basis of the procedure certified by the institution/university from where the candidate needs to have cleared his/her bachelor degree.
- Those of you who are currently appearing in the final years bachelors degree and whose results are awaiting would also be eligible to apply for CAT.
As per the Indian government policy, the seat reservation would be applicable for CAT and the seats are reserved as follows:

|Non Creamy – Other Backward Classes (NC-OBC)||27% seats|

CAT 2017 Exam Pattern

CAT 2017 Syllabus
The CAT syllabus is separated into 4 sections:
- Quantitative Ability
- Data Interpretation
- Verbal Ability
- Logical Reasoning.
You need to master these topics in order to score well in the exam. It is a computer based test which consists of MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions). Some of the questions would be subjective types.
CAT 2017 Result
The result of the CAT 2016 would be released tentatively in the second week of January 2017. You need to check the result through the official website of IIM CAT by providing their valid user ID and password. Also the result intimation message would be sent to your registered phone number. The result contains the percentage marks as well as sectional and total marks attained by you. After the announcement of result, the cut off marks would be declared by the IIMs.
CAT 2017 Cut-Off Marks
Those who have crossed the cut off criteria set by the IIMs would be eligible for admission in IIMs. Each IIMs (Indian Institute of Managament) has declared their own cut off mark for admitting the students. Attaing the cut off marks would not guarantee your admission, your previous academic record, work experience would also matter in providing admission to IIMs. The average cut off marks for IIMs are mentioned below:
CAT 2017 Selection Process
Based on the CAT cut off marks, IIMs and a number of b-schools shortlists the candidates. Those who are shortlisted are further called in for PI (Personal Interview), GD (Group Discussion) and WAT (Witten Ability Test). The admission would be done based on the overall scores secured by the candidates in CAT score card, PI, GD and WAT. Other than this your academic performance and work experience would also be taken into consideration during the time of admission. The IIMs have also released their own admission procedure and criteria inorder to provide admission. The selection process varies from B-school to B-schools.
